Description of the course: 

Our course wants to provide participants with practical instruments necessary for articulating project proposals that will have all the indispensable characteristics in order to result as winners for funds or aids calls for applications, published by Italian Public Administrations or other funding institutions. 

Knowing how to set up a coherent and convincing project proposal is not trivial: badly made projects are often presented to evaluation committees, with a ‘sloppy’ and often poor formulation; this makes more difficult getting the fund, even when the proponent has planned the project after an accurate analysis of the needs and the problems, based on a good knowledge of the local context. 

This especially applies for the Logical Framework (Quadro Logico), in which basic aspects are too often not correctly highlighted: the indicators’ coherence with objectives and results, the indicators’ verifiability and the achievement of the aims. 

Not less delicate is the formulation of the Financial Plan, that must result coherent with the activities description, it must be well balanced between the different types of expenditure, and contain only voices directly aimed at the realization of the initiative and the achievements of the objectives. 

The lecturer’s many years of experience in the evaluation of project proposals will give a series of practical guidelines that will help you writing successful projects. 

Our aim is not to fill your head with notions that you could find anywhere, but to give you practical tools for writing development cooperation projects with high possibilities to result winners in the calls for applications, and to be funded. 

 

Duration and methodology: 

The course will be carried out completely ONLINE and it is articulated in 5 sessions of 2 hours each for a total amount of 10 hours. Lectures will begin at 6 PM and will finish at 8 PM. 

For every course, not more than 5 students will be admitted, in order to guarantee a continuous interaction with the lecturer. 

Our course has a very practical approach, we will be working together on project templates especially prepared, whose punctual and shared analysis will allow to deepen every aspect, in order to notice the most common errors from project planners and to learn how to avoid them. 

During the fourth day, the course includes an individual face-to-face meeting with the lecturer for the creation of a customized path with a double value: on one hand, it will help the student in the whole comprehension of the covered topics; on the other, it will give to the lecturer an important tool to increase the communication and teaching effectiveness. 

 

Contents and course schedule: 

Our didactical approach aims to be extremely practical, therefore, our course will consist in: 

 

1st day – 12th April 2021 – h. 6 PM / 8 PM 

• Introduction; 

• Start of the analysis of a Technical Report (Relazione Tecnica) draft created on the basis of the template of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers’ Otto per Mille Call for applications, sent to the students in the days prior the beginning of the course, with a punctual indication of all the wrong items and with suggestions for the most accurate formulations. 

2nd day – 13th April 2021 – h. 6 PM / 8 PM 

• Continuation of the analysis of the Technical Report (Relazione Tecnica) draft. 

3rd day – 14th April 2021 – h. 6 PM / 8 PM 

• Shared examination of different practical hypothesis for the Logical Framework (Quadro Logico) and the Financial Plan, with an in-depth analysis of the thorniest aspects; 

• Assignment of an exercise related to the predisposition of a project proposal based on the ‘Template for drafting a complete proposal’ (Modello per la redazione della proposta completa) from the last AICS Call for applications. 

4th day – date to be individually determined with the students (between 19th and 23rd April 2021) 

• Individual sessions with the single students, during which the resulting project from the exercise, its strengths and weaknesses, will be examined and analyzed together with the lecturer. 

5th day – 26th April 2021 – h. 6 PM / 8 PM 

• Analysis of the interrelation between the work carried out and the new General Procedures for granting funds based on the RBM approach (Results Based Management), approved with the Resolution No. 71 of 31.07.2020 by the Italian Development Cooperation Joint Committee; 

• Experience sharing and conclusions. 

 

Who is it for? 

The course is open for those who already possess knowledge and experience in the field of drafting development cooperation interventions. 

 

Certificate of attendance 

At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance will be sent to all the participants who have attended at least 80% of the total time mount. In the certificate the main learning outcomes will be stated. 

 

Fees 

The fees for participating to the course is €500,00 and will cover tuition, course materials and every individual and group meeting. 

All proceeds from the course fees will benefit NINA APS initiatives.
